Impressions: If I may borrow Arby’s slogan and give it a twist, Ferrari-Carano’s 2010 Siena red blend is good mood wine. This Sangiovese-dominated blend is super approachable, and loaded with ripe black cherry, cranberry and raspberry fruit that’s accompanied by nutmeg, tar, menthol, tobacco, and potpourri. Medium-dark purple in color, it’s a medium bodied wine with silky tannins, moderate acidity, and a scintilla of heat on the back palate. The 2010 Siena retails at $25.00, but I often see it priced in the $16-$18 range. It’s a likable wine that should appeal to a wide range of palates.
